Description

AMERICAN FOLK ART CARVED WALNUT AND INLAID WALL BOXES, LOT OF TWO, comprising an arch-form top example with screw-in eyelet for hanging, double pocket, overall mother-of-pearl inlay pattern of various stars, circles and geometrical shapes, four bands of stencil decoration depicting musicians, various fowl, and stylized floral/foliage; and remaining a one-piece construction match holder, tombstone arched top with metal hanging hook, two circular openings, back board with a large five-point star, each pocket with an inlaid mother-of-pearl six-point star framed in a light and dark wood inlaid oval. Late 19th/early 20th century. 12" HOA, 8 1/4" W and 4 1/4" HOA, 2 5/8" W.
Excellent overall condition with expected wear, double-pocket example with a flake and a separation to one corner.
