Description
PENNSYLVANIA DECORATED STONEWARE BATTER JUG, salt-glazed, approximately four quart capacity, ovoid form with flat-top collared rim, open-loop handle supports, protruding spout, applied arched handle at reverse base, and Albany-slip glazed interior. Cobalt brushed flower-like design below spout with additional cobalt on handle supports, and arched handle. Original wire and wooden bail handle with appropriate tin covers of undetermined age. Possibly Cowden and Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA. Second half 19th century. 8 1/8" HOA, jug 7 3/4" H, 5" D rim.
Mostly undamaged having minor flake to spout.
