This helmet represents one of the earliest modern fiberglass diving helmets made! Manufactured by Advanced Diving Equipment Company and designed by George Swindell, this specific example is quite unique.

Advanced Diving Equipment or Swindell helmets were quite popular and used worldwide during the 1970s. This helmet is not a typical example, however. The first helmets designed by Swindell utilized only one large window. These early examples are relatively scarce. In addition, this helmet is configured differently and appears to have had an extra component attached to the back, possibly for mixed gas use.

This helmet belonged to a commercial diver who is unfortunately no longer with us. The helmet did not come with the extra components that were originally attached to the back. The original locking neck ring in present. Inside the neck ring is the serial number 664. This helmet was obviously used and remains in original unrestored condition. Helmet weighs 28 pounds. Please refer to the detailed photos for additional information. This helmet would make an excellent restoration project based on its unique and early configuration!

All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity. The display stand shown in the photos is not included.
