Description
One of the most impressive and rarely seen diving helmet designs of the 19th Century is the 5-bolt pattern. This beautiful and never-used example was made by the A. Schrader Diving Equipment Company when it was located in Bowie, Maryland.
Over the years since the helmet was made, the copper and brass have started to develop a slight consistent patina. The patina could be allowed to progress, or with simple metal polish, it could be brought back to a brilliant shine. This helmet is 100% authentic helmet and very impressive visually.
Five bolt helmets are inherently heavier than other models due to the thick sold brass neck rings where the five bolts seal the bonnet and breastplate together. This helmet is complete with all the original brass hardware, gaskets, glass, air vents, wing nuts, brails, adjustable exhaust, Schrader non-return valve and cap, etc. The helmet was designed in the style before telephone communications were used. Excellent helmet for display or with proper testing and certification to use!
