This is an authentic example of a classic style of vintage diving helmet primarily made made in Japan and Korea during the 20th Century. We are unsure of the manufacturer or country of origin. The original brass ID plate is present. The plate is in two pieces with the top half loose. This is a 3 light 12 bolt style (three window and twelve studs on the breastplate) with a copper body and brass hardware.

This helmet was likely used for decades and kept in excellent condition. Unlike many helmets from this part of the world, this helmet is free of any major condition issues, just very minor shallow working dents on the top of the bonnet. All the glass is intact. 12 wing nuts and all four of the brails are present. The exhaust fitting is slightly pushed in. Inside the bonnet the original air vents are still in place. The bonnet and breastplate thread together just as they should.

The helmet has a wonderful green and gray patina. The unmistakable look and feel of a helmet that spent years underwater is very strong with this classic piece of diving history!

All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity.
