Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, ca. 100 BCE. A hand-built anthropomorphic bowl with linear decorations incised along its exterior. A deep, flared, bowl sits atop a four-legged anthropoidal figure with deep, slit-form eyes, a shafted snout, and a wide mouth opening - perhaps a depiction of a shaman post transformation. The vessel is decorated in an inter-play of crosshatch, gridded, and diamond-set patterns repeated twice over its horizontal register. Size: 8" Diameter x 5.25" H (20.3 cm x 13.3 cm)
