Description
Antique Japanese Raku teabowl covered all over in a lustrous black glaze, the body shaped with a finger shaped groove, the foot rim with 3 spur marks from the original firing; Japanese wood storage box. Bowl in good condition with several hairlines or firing cracks not clearly visible on black glaze apparently with old black lacquer repairs. Height 3 1/2 inches (8.9 cm.) X diameter at mouth 4 inches (10.3 cm.). PROVENANCE: Purchased at PB84, a subsidiary of Sotheby Parke Bernet in the early 1980's. Momoyama or Early Edo Period. Domestic S/H $35 + 1.5% insurance.
