John Gorse (1945-2020) of Charleston, SC. A business entrepreneurs, private collectors. A retired as senior vice president for legal and regulatory affairs in 1981. After retirement he focused his efforts on revitalizing the local area and philanthropy. His entrepreneurial drive continually motivated him to privately invest in real estate ventures and many other businesses. In addition to his impressive business acumen, he was a man of artistic pursuits, collecting antiques, porcelains, oriental rugs, and artwork of many different genres.

Pair of Large Chinese Qing Dynasty Kangxi Blue & White Dragon Motif Porcelain Vases on Carved Hardwood Stands. The porcelain potted in large vase shape, thick and tall, abdomen octagonal mid body, tall cylindrical neck, round wide flaring mouth lip, emerge scrolling ruyi flanked on the neck, raised on a short ring foot base with slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves. The glaze has smooth texture and moisturizing. Which attracting unceasingly admiration. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze greyish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design.

The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Kangxi Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.

Over all in EXCELLENT condition. Some stress of wear. Natural wood imperfection, wood joint mark, minor scratches and dents. Normal consider ages and wears.
