Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Pihuamo, ca. 200 BCE to 300 CE. A hand rendered bi-chrome terracotta female figure, depicted standing with both arms bent at the elbows and hands across the chest, wearing a skirt with a front panel featuring two rows of pointed bas relief appliques and a red sash around her waistline with bell-like ornaments on one hip. She gazes ahead with almond-shaped eyes, a long protruding nose with delineated nostrils, tab-shaped ears that are pierced for decoration, and a crested headdress with a long tie draping down her back. A striking piece with wonderful manganese deposits gracing the surface as well. Size: 25.25" H (64.1 cm); 25.75" H (65.4 cm) on included custom stand.
