A painted and bronze doré replica of the 1872 sculpture made by Marius Jean Antonin Mercie, originally cast by Barbedienne, depicting a winged female allegorical image of Pheme carrying a fallen French soldier whose broken sword represents the defeat; the sculpture set on a marble pedestal.
Condition: Good, with minor paint loss. 42 x 22 x 18 inches (105 x 55 x 45 cm)
Two pieces total including pedestal.
