Canaan / Holy land (oriented with north to the right). By Daniel Stoopendaal. From Keur’s Dutch Bible. ‘Biblia dat is de gantfehe H. Schrifture’. Published in Rotterdam, Netherlands. 1738-1740. From the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan river, holy land during the time of Christ. The subject is to show the travels of the apostles under Christ’s direction to spread the gospel. Paul’s travels are shown by ship among others. Decorative features include Christ in the center, his birth scene on the left, crucification on the left all surrounded by apostles and angels. Hand colored copper plate engraved. Script on verso. Fair condition, please see the pics provided. The map is toned, minor tears along edges, some foxing, also folds result in a ‘ses through’ effect when held up. However that’s not a issue once framed.
