Description
A Chinese blanc de chine statue of Guanyin and her attendant Shancai dating from the 18th or 19th century. Guanyin is pouring water from a jug in her left hand while making a mudra with her right hand. She and her attendant stand on lotuses. Her attendant bows with palms together. Guanyin wears lingzhi in her top knot and a heavy, voluminous robe and necklace.
Dimensions are: 23 inches tall X 8 1/2 inches wide, 58.4 cm X 21.6 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There are a few very minuscule chips to the hems of the clothing and to the petals of the lotuses, as well as a few breaks to Guanyin's hair and lingzhi. Chips to the Guanyin's hair ornament and a chip to 1 of her fingermails.
Provenance: From a private Texas collection.
