Circa 1st-2nd century AD A mixed group of bronze plate brooches comprising: a fish with red and blue enamel panels, roundels to the flank, pin missing; a horse-and-rider brooch with panels to accept enamel infill to the horse's flank and rider's cloak, pin missing; a running hound with enamelled panel to the eye, flank and ear complete, pin to rear. Bronze and enamel, 9.30 grams, 30-39 mm (1 1/5-1 1/2") Private UK collection, by descent from the vendor's father, a metal detectorist, who formed his collection in the 1970's-1980's, from his own finds and by buying from a shop in Cambridgeshire, owned by Alan Fordham. Part of this collection was previously sold at Bonham's Antiquities sale 17855, 6 October 2010, Lot 199. [3, No Reserve]
