Description
2nd century AD. A mixed group of plate brooches comprising: one fish-shaped with enamelled scale detailing, hinged pin and catchplate to the reverse; a horseman with inset cells to the horse's chest and flanks, rider's body to accept red enamel fill, sprung pin and catchplate to the reverse; one similar without enamel or pin; a gilt-bronze tutulus disc brooch with pellets to the border, central boss surrounded by five smaller bosses and surmounted by a clubbed knop. 21 grams total, 23 - 45mm (1 - 1 3/4").
