Circa 12th century AD and later A Khorasan vessel of cylindrical form with three cast zoomorphic dogs for legs; to the underside a silver inlaid medallion of a beast on an arabesque background; the side with four medallions each depicting a bird with human mask in silver inlay, with zoomorphic elements between; below, a band of silver-inlaid calligraphic script; above, a band of guilloche and a further similar band to the rim of the lid; to the upper face a band of silver-inlaid calligraphic script; to the central dome, a band of guilloche and script above; the knop handle with inlaid silver panels. Bronze, 760 grams, 20 cm (8") UK art and antiquities market, acquired prior to 1990.
