A group of 5 items, incl. pro-prohibition and anti-immigration and fliers.4 1/2 x 5 1/2 in. cartoon "Helping Balance the Roosevelt Budget" with monk siphoning beer from a barrel-"Out of One Barrel-into Another." Followed by a diatribe against the Catholic church: "Tract No. 22, BOOZE FACTS. Jan 3rd, 1928, the Pope gave birth to a Bull bitterly denouncing Prohibition. Immediately every priest, bishop, archbishop, cardinal, and enthroned papal prelate-19,000 members of the American hierarchy-united in the denunciation of the law...[joined by millionaires and the Catholic press]. The best law ever passed for the protection of the American home and the nation's' childhood went down under the most gigantic barrage of crooked propaganda that ever swept the nation. The Pope in Rome, every pug-nosed priest, every K. of C, every one of the 300 officially edited paper church paprs in this country fought prohibition. The church wanted the law repealed for financial reasons. It is a safe estimate that 75 percent of the distillers; 85 per cent of the booze joints and dive keepers; and 99 per cent of the brewers are Roman Catholic...."
