Fisher Ames was an 18th-century American congressman and one of the most important figures in the Federalist party. He vehemently supported President George Washington and is best remembered for his oration on the death of Washington in early 1800. In his speech, Ames discusses how Washington lead America into a state of independence, self-sustaining, and moral virtue that would not have been possible without him as leader.
This first edition of Ames’ famous ‘Oration’ was published in early 1800 in Boston.
