Description
**First Time At Auction**
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful unguentarium that is free blown from semi-translucent glass of an attractive spring green hue. The bell-shaped body has a slightly concave base, a tapered shoulder, and a narrow, cylindrical neck surmounted by an in-folded rim. A pinched tab on one side of the body was formed during the vessel's creation. Fantastic layers of fiery rainbow-hued iridescence have formed across the vessel and nicely accentuate its yellow-green coloration. Size: 2.25" W x 5.25" H (5.7 cm x 13.3 cm)
Provenance: private Corpus Christi, Texas, USA estate collection, acquired 1960s to 1970s

Condition
Light pitting to some surfaces, with micro-bubbling within glass matrix, and scattered areas of encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Wonderful rainbow iridescence throughout.
