Footnotes:
Officially unveiled in 1958, the Land Rover Series II was the first Land Rover to be officially styled by a design team headed by David Bache. The Series II was effectively a facelift of the Series I, but the styling was much more sophisticated and modern. Bache and his team added many features that are recognisable today on a modern Defender, such as its rounded roof and 'barrel side' bodylines. Differences between the Series II and the Series IIA are minor and difficult to distinguish, but the IIA was introduced in 1961 and updates included two new 2.25-litre petrol and diesel engines. For 1969, the headlamps were also moved to the wings, and this is a feature that is most recognisable on modern Defenders.
This 1970 Series IIA is an immaculate example that has recently been fully restored to a very high standard. It is presented in a stunning Limestone colour scheme with a black vinyl interior, and the engine is also in excellent condition (and said to be running and driving well). The bodywork and interior also present very well, and the mileage is low for an old Land Rover at just 26,500 miles. This is an excellent and usable example with good history to go with it.
Vendor Score Total: 98/100
