Description
Bicycle Racing: 1890s Badges and Tintype. Wonderful collection of artifacts related to the bicycle craze of the 1890s. There are eighteen items altogether. There is one photograph, a 2.5" x 3.75" tintype of a young man astride his high wheel bicycle. There are two brass shell badges advertising bicycle lamps ("NeverOut" and "Searchlight"). A small token advertises "Syracuse Bicycles Crimson Rims". The balance of the badges (most with enamel elements) were issued in conjunction with "centurion" of 100-mile bicycle races held at various locales. A superb assortment including many rare pieces.
