Description
Eastern Europe, Russia, Imperial Period, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful trio of gilt silver teaspoons with vibrant enamel cloisonne. The first spoon is an 81% silver with a gilt wash across the surface. The handle and finial are decorated with columns of cloisonne rectangles that contain sunburst and leaf motifs in yellow, orange, and cobalt. The neck underside is stamped with a maker mark and assay stamp (both faint). The next 2 spoons are a 78% silver and 19.54% gold alloy, with petite bowls and matching handles decorated with blue and yellow floral cloisonne motifs. The necks are also stamped with maker marks and assay stamps. Size of larger spoon: 5.5" L x 1.125" W (14 cm x 2.9 cm); silver quality: 78% to 81%; total weight: 54.8 grams

Provenance: ex-collection of James Farmer, Maryland, USA, collected from major galleries and auction houses between 1995 and 2005

Marker marks are soft and somewhat indiscernible. Surface wear and scratches. Dark toning and patina. Cloisonne is intact and good on all three.
