SIBYL EDWARDS (Canadian b. 1944) A GROUP OF THIRTEEN GEOMETRIC ABSTRACTION AND OP ART EGGS, colorful optical art, linear functions, and geometric abstraction expressed in watercolor paint on eggshells and wood, largest height: 4", diameter: 3". Note: A whimsical combination of mid-century op art with folk art; the present collection includes a variety of egg sizes, which is an outsider format, typical of folk art. The egg bulges the hand-painted two dimensional mathematical algorithms. The artist's use of bright color is an exercise in color theory initiated by artists such as Josef Albers and optical illusion artworks by Bridget Riley during the 1950s and 1960s.

One larger shell with a crack at one end, some expected surface wear, and minor soiled areas, overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age.
