Description
An Egyptian painted wood 'mummy' mask, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, from an anthropoid sarcophagus lid, carved from a single piece of wood except the nose which had to be added with small dowel. The features are nicely carved with central portion of the headdress remaining. A nice example with much original paint remaining. 10 x 7 1/2 in (25.4 x 19 cm). Ex Gloucester, UK private collection.
