Description
Khleb nam dast tol'ko Krasnaya Armiya [Only the Red Army Will Give Us Bread], a poster alternatively ascribed to Dmitry Moor (Dmitry Orlov, 1893-1946, Meritorious Art Worker of the Russian Federation), or to Nikolai Pomansky (1887-1935). Published by Litizdat PUR, Moscow, 1919, 54 x 71 cm.
The poster is divided into two panes, one describing the shortages during the time when Denikin controlled the bread-producing South, another showing the problem subsiding now that the Red Army is on the offensive. Stephen White attributes it to Pomansky in The Bolshevik Poster; yet some Internet sites refer to it as a poster by Moor. The Russian News Agency (RIAN) images catalog contains a 1972 photograph of this poster on exhibit in Ul'yanovsk Museum, with an attribution to Moor.
