Description

4 Original Minton 1873 Shakespeare Encaustic Tiles signed "JMS" for John Moyr-Smith (1839-1912) and each embossed to back "Minton's China Works Stoke on Trent" with round globe mark, "Minton / Stoke Upon Trent / Walbrook - London." The titles are: "Twelfth Night," "Timon of Athens," "Merchant of Venice," and "Antony and Cleopatra." Each 6 inches square (15.2 cm. square).

Condition

Age related wear to glazed surface, the backs without any cement traces, small glaze flakes to edges of each, the "Merchant of Venice" with crack to upper right corner re-stuck.
