DUTCH DELFT TIN-GLAZED EARTHENWARE LARGE PLAQUES, LOT OF TWO, each of oval form having two holes for hanging, and featuring blue hand-painted scenes, comprising a horizontal example depicting figures with dog standing around a low barrel, one holding a fish, with netting strung behind them and several boats on water in background, and a vertical example featuring a large windmill and sailboat with a woman admiring both from an adjacent road, having hand-brushed "HOLLAND" with Makkum mark to back. Royal Tichelaar Makkum, Makkum, Netherlands. Late 19th/first half 20th century. 23 1/4" x 18 7/8".

Figures with fish/boats example having several scattered glaze flakes to raised edge; windmill example with scattered restoration to edges, some yellowing; each having some characteristic glaze crazing. Some having manufacturing flaws including glaze imperfections, as made.
