JOHN ALCOTT (BRITISH, 1888-1973) NAUTICAL PAINTING, oil on canvas, depicting the clipper ship Macquarie, signed in lower left corner "JOHN ALCOTT", retains label for "S.A. PARKER LTD. / SYDNEY". Housed in likely original gilt molded frame. First half 20th century. 26" x 35 1/4" sight, 36 1/4" x 46" OA.
Provenance: Acquired in Australia.
Catalogue Note: Originally built by R & H Green in 1875, and renamed Macquarie in 1888, its routes ran from Melbourne to Sydney in 1954 it was broken up.

Very good overall visual condition. Frame having old breaks with associated losses and repairs.
