From Southern Italy, Greek colony of Apulia, Gnathian region, ca. 325 BC. Terracotta "loving cup" skyphos with delicate stemmed foot, ribbed body; black glaze with hand painted decoration of a single dove flanked by foliate on each side. Larger than most measuring 5-3/8"H x 7"W handlespan.
Provenance: Ex-Gualario Collection, Tampa, FL, acquired in the 1960s.
