Fantastic WWII cover featuring one of Lou Fine's most iconic images, later showcased on the cover of "The Lou Fine Comics Treasury" [Pure Imagination: 1991]. Like Jack Kirby and Will Eisner, Lou Fine was a Jewish kid from NYC who was outraged by the Nazi terror spreading across Europe. Unlike Kirby and Eisner, Fine was unable to directly participate in the war effort due to a leg crippled by polio. Fine fought Hitler in the pages of his comic books instead, and his game leg lends poignancy to this image of Uncle Sam standing tall as he strikes a blow against fascism.
