Very fine example! Costa Rica, Atlantic watershed, ca 500 to 900 AD. Stone "trophy head" representing a vanquished enemy from one of the neighboring enemies. Carved in great detail with hair in rows, expressive facial features and small stump for neck. Measures 7" H.
Provenance: Ex-private Texas collection acquired in the 1970's.
