Description
Just under 5" height and nearly 3/4" thick of beveled section, nickel (?) plated. The back with an inscribed cross and K K K to the beam terminals. World War One brought blacks from the South to Detroit to work in war production, which fueled racial tensions. This cross evidently was produced in one of the Detroit auto company foundries about that time and probably used to intimidate black workers. It turned up in an estate sale in Hamtramck Michigan several years ago. It’s production, of course, would have been strictly against company rules. Such items produced for private use on company time were euphemistically called "government jobs" by the workers.
