RIPLEY PATENTED FOOTED FINGER LAMP, colorless, double molded handles, medial body with a single molded ring, base embossed "RIPLEY & CO. PAT'D JAN. 7TH JULY. 14TH AUG 11 1868", No. 1 fine line collar. Fitted with a P & A Mfg. Co. No. 1 lip burner with flat sides, thumbwheel marked "P & A MFG CO PAT AUG 16/70 APR 13/75.", period mold-blown Dithridge lip chimney, embossed on fitter "DITHRIDGE & CO" and reverse "PATD AUG 16 1870". Ripley & Co. Third quarter 19th century. 5 1/8" H to top of collar, 3 3/4" D base.

Provenance: From the collection of Abigail and the late Edward Meyer of Plantsville, CT.

Condition

Lamp with a minute nick to molded ring, font with some minute wear. Burner undamaged, chimney fitter with a normal minor flake.
