Description
Ed White II: Collection of Original NASA Glossy Photos from His Personal Collection. A vintage three ring binder labeled by White on the spine, "Volume 1", containing thirty-three 8" x 10" B&W glossies, telling the story of his early training as one of the second group of astronauts chosen. In the front is a "table of contents" handwritten by White listing fourteen topics such as "Huntsville Trip", "Cape Trip", and "Zero G Flying".
Some of these photos are quite rare, a partial listing:
S-62-8236: "MSC Flight Crew Personnel viewing Titan launch from Central Control, Cape Canaveral, Fla."
S-62-8195: "New MSC Flight Crew personnel visiting Titan Complex 19 and Blockhouse. Cape Canaveral, Fla." (pictures all nine of the second astronaut group).
S-63-6654: "Astronaut Trainees White, McDivitt, Armstrong participating in weightless flight."
S-63-8408: "NASA's sixteen astronauts participate in tropic survival training from June 3, through June 6, 1963 at Albrock Air Force Base, Canal Zone."
Photos are generally in fine or better condition.
