Description
Ed White II: Early Signed Photo and "New Nine" Glossy from His Personal Collection. A very early 8" x 10" B&W glossy NASA photo (S-62-5226) of White in a business suit. He has signed (low contrast): "To Pam & Shell,/ Best Wishes/ Edward H. White II/ Capt USAF". A rare early form of his signature with service branch and rank. There is a purple NASA caption on the verso that interestingly does not mention the word "astronaut." The brief bio is titled "New Manned Spacecraft Center Test Pilot". Also in this lot is another early NASA B&W glossy (S-63-644) picturing the "New Nine" team with Scott Carpenter, John Glenn, Deke Slayton, and a visiting dignitary. The signed photo exhibits some "silvering" and a few dings and creases. The group photo is extremely fine.
