CHAMBERLAIN, Joshua (1828-1914). Autograph letter to wife Fanny Chamberlain requesting collapsible candlesticks. "Camp." 23 February 1862. Â
1 page, 7 7/8 x 12 1/4 in. Creased, with some separation at creases and loss to left edge and lower left corner. With Joshua L. Chamberlain calling card. Â
Chamberlain expresses his desire that Fanny come to the 20th Maine's camp for a long visit, adding, "If you do have any time, pray get me a pair of camp candle stick. There are some very convenient kinds, which screw together & form a neat little pocket case which one can put in a haversack & carry without breaking." Chamberlain signs the letter "L" (his middle name Lawrence), a sign off he commonly used with Fanny. Â
