Description
Early version of a Dietz Railroad Conductor's lantern with thick-walled clear glass globe, intact and undamaged. Top of the globe reads // MACBETH / No 209 / PEARL GLASS //. Some bubble seeds in the glass. Lantern is 10 inches tall without the bail, and ~6.5 inches in diameter at the base. It is in excellent condition, complete with the kerosene tank (but no wick). Robert Dietz began making kerosene lamps in 1940, and though production in the US ceased in 1970, Dietz lanterns continue to be made by the company in China using 100-plus-year-old patterns and tooling to this day.Date: c1900-10Country (if not USA): State: City: Provenance:
