Half Plate Daguerreotype of a Wealthy Woman, Civil War-Era
A Half Plate Daguerreotype, measuring 4.25" x 5.5", No place, undated. A portrait of a middle-aged woman, seated and wearing a dark dress. The woman's numerous pieces of jewelry have been highlighted in gold paint: rings, bracelets, a necklace, and earrings. Housed in a leather-bound case. There is no identification of the woman, nor any makers information for the case. With some areas of oxidation at the edges, along with minor imperfections throughout. The case has become separated at the hinge. Both clasps still present.
