Description
DESCRIPTION: An excellent 12 in tall Meiji era Japanese cloisonne vase attributed to Namikawa Sosuke. Done in wired and wireless techniques. It shows a bird, possibly a shrike, who has just landed abruptly on a tree branch. He is looking at a spider who has just come out to repair a broken web. Incredible detail in the wire work making up the spider web and the bird. Beautiful wireless transitions in the tree and leaves. The background fades from sky blue to pale green from top to bottom.
