A large abstract oil painting on canvas of a Colorado landscape by Roger White, signed, size: 25 1/4 x 29 1/4 in. sight, 30 1/4 x 34 1/4 in. framed, condition excellent. Roger Lee White, an artist and educator was born in Shelby, OH in 1925. He received his BFA from Miami University,OH and a MA from Univ. of Denver, CO. He also did graduate studies at the University of Colorado and the University of Oklahoma. He became a professor of art at Oklahoma City University, teaching drawing, watercolor, oil, and art history. He later became Chairman of the Art Department. In 1969, he moved to Empire, Colorado to devote himself to full time painting. There he painted the mountains, mines, people and historic sites of Colorado that he enjoyed. He was considered an outstanding southwestern painter who participated in many national, regional and one-man exhibitions where he was a consistent prize winner. His work is held in numerous museum and private collections throughout the USA. He died in Oklahoma City in December, 1994.
