19th or possibly 18th century fine velvet curtain panel in rich, iron red. Single curtain has been unified with use of four separate vertical panels, all work hand-done. Features edges with scalloped and tied fringe, small tassel drops, scattered silk ribbons and flowers. Anterior side and bottom edges trimmed with gold metallic passementerie embellishments. Posterior side to curtain is backed with dyed red fabric, connective joints covered with ribbon, inner edges finished with silk strips. Top with eight silk suspension loops for use with rod. Shows normal signs of wear associated with age. Some light distress to embellishments and fabric surface, but overall very good for age with no significant stains, holes or tears.
