EDGAR CHAHINE (French, 1874-1947): a collection of engravings (etchings and dry points) in three states for Soeur Phiolemene, pub. 1934, Rouen, Societe Normande des Amis du Livre, with a total of 24 engravings on thick woven paper (each sheet 10-3/8 x 7-7/8 in.) PLUS 12 pencil signed engravings of the same images on ARCHES paper (6 with watermark, 6 without; each plate approx. 6-3/8 x 4-3/4 in.), each signed lower left, and accompanied by the original copper plate for the portrait engraving of Soeur Pilomene [Sister Philomene], signed and dated 1934 in the plate (6-5/8 x 4-7/8 in.); with the unbound "a-propros" by Rene Helot and fully bound "Soeur Philomene" by Edmond de Goncourt, exemplaire 2 of 25, pub. Rouen, Societe Normande des Amis du Livre, the edition reserved for members of the Society and this copy specifically reserved for Georges Majoux, then Vice-President of the Society, the copy pencil signed by him; all within a fold-open hard case
