LAURENCIN MARIE: (1883-1956) French Painter and Printmaker, Avant-garde Cubist associated with the Section d'Or. An interesting A.L.S., `Marie Laurencin´, one page, small 4to, on her printed stationery of 1 rue Savorgnan de Brazza, Paris, 23rd November, n.y., in French. Laurencin responds to her correspondent giving her opinion on his work, colours, etc… and stating in part `I think that the page is nice, most of all the reproductions but I like less the small text. Don't´ you think that the roses would have looked better´ At the base, and beneath her signature, Laurencin states `Your colours are astonishing, the yellow, the green, very good. The black of the mantilla is a little pale, or is it only an idea?´ Accompanied by a 5 x 7 unsigned photograph of Laurencin in a head and shoulders pose.
