Otis Lithograph Co., Cleveland, Ohio, a good chromolithograph poster featuring George the Supreme Master of Magic, the tuxedo clad George with wand in his right hand and a cascade of playing cards issuing forth from his left, and surrounded by a group of young women and symbols of the East and the underworld, in a shrink wrapped foam core envelope
Condition
very good, unused, edges with minor staining. Grover C. George was an early 20th century prestidigitator who was good enough at his craft that Howard Thurston, a contemporary and rival, threatened to cancel performances if any theatre he was playing booked George. Thurston's ploy paid off, and George was induced by loss of business to take his show to Cuba, and then to Central and South America. These were printed at the time of the dispute, and George left prior to his Triumphant American Tour, and thus the unused posters. ACCESSORIES:
