Description
England, a late 18th - early 19th century inlaid mahogany tea caddy, the front back and sides with mahogany crossbanding adjacent to long grain mahogany and a central, figured mahogany panel with incurved corners, the transitions between the parts outlined with two color, three part stringing, the corners and top molding with checked banding, and the top veneered to match the sides, with the addition of quarter fans in the hollows at the corners of the central veneer, ornate brass bail handle and oak branch escutcheon, the interior containing three tin lined boxes with sliding covers having mahogany veneers and checked banding, and a narrow compartment at the back, the cover with mahogany veneer and three part stringing, all with picture hanger handles
Condition
in an old finish, minor repaired losses to checked banding, minor bumps and dings, right side of front, lid lining replaced, two interior handles replaced ACCESSORIES:
