A REGENCY ERA STRIPED MAHOGANY AND VARIOUS WOODS INLAID MARQUETRY TEA CADDY, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY, the rectangular hinged lid centering an elliptical reserve portraying an inlaid flower filled basket, within rosewood crossbanding alternating boxwood string inlaid trim, opening to reveal a similarly inlaid interior lid with blank elliptical reserve above the fitted interior with two removable tea cases with parquetry hinged lids and traces of foil lined interiors, flanking a circular red leather lined and parquetry inlaid compartment with a conforming molded and cut glass mixing bowl, enclosed within matching inlaid exterior sides centering a front with two elliptical reserves of flower filled vases. Good condition, some old surface marks, scratches and dents throughout, normal age cracks, tiny chips on some corners, lid reserve possibly restored, areas of minor veneer warping, tiny areas of string inlay loss, red leather lined interior of glass bowl compartment reverses to remnants of a late 18th/early 19th animal glued and printed Billingsgate ad with Masonic emblem, glass mixing bowl has normal surface issues commiserate with items of this age, materials and use and is contemporary with the age of the tea caddy.
