Description
1874 The Gilded Age Mark Twain American Politics Government Washington DC
“A womans intuition is better than a mans. Nobody knows anything, really, you know, and a woman can guess a good deal nearer than a man.”
― Mark Twain, The Gilded Age
Appearing in more than 100 editions, this lesser-known Twain novel is his only work in which he collaborated with another author. “The Gilded Age” has become synonymous with materialism and the corruption, greed, and selfishness amongst mankind, particularly in Washington D.C.
Originally published in 1873, very few printings include the 1873 dated title page. American Publishing decided to include a forged title page dated 1874 (as seen in this copy) with no changes made to the text.
