Joseph Pennell (1857-1926) American, Pen & Ink. Titled, ‘Clearing the Ring’, pen & ink drawing on paper. Man in street clothes fighting a bull, men running and jumping over a fence, shoes & hats in the ring.As is, condition commensurate with age. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Joseph Pennell became best known for his illustrations and etchings, a process he began in the late 1870s. He completed over 1800 etchings and lithographs, executed mostly in Europe before 1917. His style was strongly influenced by James Whistler, and his technique was influenced by drawings of Charles Reinhardt. Size: 8 1/2 x 10 3/4 in.
