Description
Irma Starr (Born 1933)
Late 20th Century.
The two redware plates decorated in the style of 17th century slip wares are decorated with liquified clay applique in high relief.
Online sources attribute Ms. Starr's inspiration for these wares to period examples in the Nelson Atkins Museum's Burnap Collection of pre-industrial British pottery.
Each measures 10.25 inches in diameter.
Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.
In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts. Of their many contributions to the community, 'The Soslands gave one of the nation's finest private collections of American Indian art to the Nelson-Atkins' museum (nelson-atkins.org). The content of this auction bears testament to their keen eye and varied interests. No property has been added; each lot here originates with the Sosland family and sells without reserve.
We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell.
Until further notice, we cannot offer international shipping in-house.
