An excessively rare and large 33-star American flag, cotton construction 65.5 x 110 in., two sided with individually sewn stars and stripes, left margin sewn with three brass grommets, no marks present. This flag was used by the United States from 1859-1861 just before the onset of the war, the period between the admission to the Union of Oregon and Kansas. The flag is heavily worn, expected due to age, with substantial tears and holes throughout, yet overall presentable.
