Description

A very rare and large 36-star American flag, cotton construction 48 x 96 in., two sided with individually sewn stars and stripes, left margin sewn with absent metal grommets bearing the makerâ€™s stamp 'Drummond Pierce.' This flag was used by the United States from 1865-1867 immediately after the Civil War, the period between the admission to the Union of West Virginia and Nevada. Moderate wear expected from age, with a few scattered stains and small holes. A few hand- sewn repairs are present. Overall good condition.
